About Me
As a child, I devoured all the books I could get my hands on at the library and wrote cheesy song lyrics in spiral notebooks. By middle school I was trying my hand at writing poetry. In high school I enjoyed reading the classics and writing literary analyses and personal essays, and in college I discovered my love for journalism. After several years of working in the advertising and public relations industries, I decided to follow my heart and become a freelance writer. Family life with my husband and two small children is a constant source of inspiration to me and helped me develop a specialty in writing about parenting topics for niche publications and websites. I've been writing the "Round the Clock" blog for www.charlotteparent.com for the past year, and I enjoy writing about my daily juggling act of working from home with two small children. I also write for a daily newspaper, a parenting Web site and the official fan magazine for singer/songwriter Tori Amos.
In 2002 I read the book “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron and first learned the concept of “Morning Pages.” Cameron believes that every individual can become “unblocked” and rediscover their creativity by writing three pages on any topic, longhand, each morning before the start of the day. I learned a lot by working the program, and while I am ashamed to admit that I didn’t keep up with the morning pages, I do write on a daily basis. I work hard to deliver clean, well-researched copy that is neatly organized and proofread for style and grammar. When I thought about what I wanted to call my writing business, I remembered Cameron’s “Morning Pages” concept and what I strive for in my own work, and thus, “Finished Pages,” was born.
